Pure tumescent liposuction involves the use of
local anesthetic only; thereby reducing the risks
associated with a general anesthetic. This enables
you to be awake during the procedure but not experience
any pain.
Dr. Parks has been performing
tumescent liposuction since 1992 and has performed
hundreds of these procedures.
Tumescent liposuction involves
the infusion of a local anesthetic fluid to which
is added sodium bicarbonate (to take the sting
out of the anesthetic) and epinephrine which counteracts
bleeding. This fluid's then infused into the area
to be liposuctioned through very small incisions.
A large quantity of this fluid is put in, to make
the area firm or tumesced. Once this fluid is
in the area, it is allowed to sit for about 15
minutes to achieve maximum effectiveness. The
patient is not put to sleep but is awake during
the entire procedure. This reduces the risk of
having a general anesthetic as well as the cost
of the procedure, since no anesthesiologist is
needed. The liposuctioning is then done through
the same small incision sites where the anesthetic
went in.
Once the procedure is finished the incision sites
are left open to drain (this will heal better
than if it is sutured). Bandages are then applied
and a girdle like garment is then put over the
bandages. The bandages come off the next morning,
and you can shower at that point. The garment
is usually worn for a total of 10 days. Because
there is no general anesthetic given there are
no lingering after effects from the procedure.
Most people can return to work 2 to 3 days after
the procedure.

BOTOX®cosmetic is a purified protein
toxin that is derived from a specific form of
bacteria. It was originally utilized as a remedy
for neck and facial spasms, but in the last decade
it has been used effectively to remove facial
wrinkles. Each day, the muscles between the eyes
(frown lines) and on the outside of the eyes (crow's
feet) contract many times. Over time, these muscle
contractions create "creases" or wrinkles
in the skin. To remove these wrinkles, BOTOX®cosmetic is
injected through a very small needle into the
muscles that cause these contractions. BOTOX®cosmetic essentially
impedes the nerve impulse from reaching these
muscles. Gradually, the muscles relax and the
facial wrinkles soften or disappear. Patients
may experience a slight discomfort when the needle
is inserted and the BOTOX®cosmetic injected, but this only
lasts approximately five to seven seconds. The
entire treatment is performed in the physician's
office and lasts 10 to 15 minutes.

Restylane is the newest FDA approved injectable product for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. Restylane is made from hyaluronic acid which is naturally found in the skin. Hyaluronic acid helps to bind water and keeps the skin soft and supple. Over time as the quantity of hyaluronic acid in the skin diminishes the skin thins, sags and wrinkles appear. Restylane restores hyaluronic acid to the skin. The results are usually seen immediately and can last for 6 to 12 months.
Collagen is a normal supporting
structure of the skin. Over time, natural collagen
diminishes and wrinkles appear wherever there
is movement of the skin. Collagen replacement
therapy restores the skin's collagen layer, helping
to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Results are
immediate and last for approximately 3 to 6 months.
These superficial peels using
either Glycolic acid or Salicylic acid help to
minimize fine wrinkles, lighten brown spots, even

reduce acne blemishes. Referred to as 'lunchtime
peels' you can resume your normal daily activities
immediately following the peel.
Deeper peels using varying strengths of Trichloracetic
